Thank you for using Marine Compass Pro. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. Marine Compass Pro is an iOS navigation aid for boaters and sailors that shows your heading, position, speed and related data, lets you save points of interest, and offers tools such as marine weather and anchor watch. Marine Compass Pro does not require an account, and your saved data stays on your device.

Information We Collect

  • No Account: Marine Compass Pro has no sign-up or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or any account credentials.
  • Location Data: With your permission, the app uses your device location to display your current coordinates, heading, course over ground, and speed, to label your position with a nearby place name, to power the optional anchor watch, and to fetch local marine weather. Location is processed on your device. Your coordinates are sent to Apple (to convert a position into a place name) and to Open-Meteo (to retrieve weather for that position). These requests contain only latitude and longitude — never your identity. If you grant "Always" permission, location is also used in the background solely to monitor anchor drift while anchor watch is active.
  • Saved Points of Interest: Points you save (coordinates, an optional name, speed, heading, and date) are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers. You can export them yourself as a GPX file or delete them at any time.
  • Subscription State: Whether you have an active Marine Compass Pro entitlement, managed through RevenueCat and Apple. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app user identifier and receives your purchase receipt; it does not receive your name or email.
  • Usage and Diagnostics: We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage events (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used), along with app version, device model, and analytics identifiers. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve it. It is not linked to a personal account because the app has none.
  • Notifications: Anchor-drift alerts and sunset reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. We do not operate a push server and do not send marketing notifications.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the compass and navigation readouts (heading, position, speed, course over ground).
  • Save and display your points of interest and waypoints.
  • Run the optional anchor watch and alert you if you drift outside your chosen radius.
  • Fetch and show marine weather, and compute sun and moon times for your location.
  • Schedule local notifications you have enabled.
  • Verify your Marine Compass Pro entitlement so paid features unlock.
  • Improve the app through anonymous diagnostics and analytics.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not have a server that stores your navigation data. We rely on the following service providers, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Apple: reverse geocoding (turning coordinates into a place name) and in-app purchases through the App Store.
  • Open-Meteo: marine weather data, requested using only the latitude and longitude of your position. No account information is sent.
  • RevenueCat: subscription and purchase management for Marine Compass Pro.
  • Google Firebase: anonymous usage analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Data Storage and Security

Your saved points, settings, and language preference are stored locally on your device. Because there is no account and no personal data stored on our servers, the most reliable way to keep your data private is the security of your own device. Data sent to the services above is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS).

Data Retention

Your saved points and settings remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Deleting the app removes the locally stored data.

Your Rights

Because the app does not collect personal account information, you remain in control of your data at all times. You can review, export (GPX), correct, or delete your saved points directly in the app, and you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Children's Privacy

Marine Compass Pro is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy at this address or within the app.
